The history of industrial metal fabrication spans centuries and represents one of the oldest elemental skills known to humankind. Ancients regarded those who understood and worked these powerful raw materials with an almost spiritual reverence. The oldest known industrial mining and working operation dated all the way back to 8,700 BCE after the discovery of a copper pendant in northern Iraq. In the Americas, copper mining has been documented as early as 4000-5000 BCE near Lake Michigan. The Metal Ages in Europe - Bronze, Iron, Copper - impressively spanned from 2300-1 BCE, and the intentional development of metalworking completely changed the way humans interact with their environment and society worldwide.
Thankfully, our predecessors blazed the trail for the incredible technological advances metalworkers enjoy today. It's not just pounding or pouring hot iron anymore! In our modern fabrication work here at Vector Metals, we blend nearly all the aspects of the metalworking trades - design, layout, cutting, drilling, joining, finishing, tempering, welding, brazing, tool making - to breathe life into the vision of our clients. If you can dream it, we can make it!
